Focus on the "vision" and ... empower and energize others

Let me share a bit of inspiration I drew from the distance education course that I'm taking:

"The emerging DE leader should always embrace a futurist view of what could be, while being grounded in what is best for the moment in the sense that Conger and Kanungo (1987) defined the "charismatic leader" who focuses on a "vision and a mission; to develop a unique and inspirational view of the future; to empower and energize others to implement their vision; to press their organization to continuously improve; to widely communicate and live that vision; to integrate congruent values into the culture they are influencing; and to profoundly inspire and affect their followers aspirations" (Beaudoin, p. 87-88).

Blood in the streets

Suddenly, Egypt and the Facebook Revolution has faded from the front pages. But now Twitter is tweeting updates rapdi fire from around the globe as Libyans confront their tyrant of 40 tears with home mande bombs as he orders them to be machine gunned down.

This sample depicts their determined resistance:

Libya: Opposition hopes for new era in Benghazi

Residents and former soldiers opposed to Col Gaddafi celebrate in Benghazi, Libya (24 Feb 2011)

Benghazi residents have been celebrating their victory over the elite government troops

The northern Libyan city of Benghazi is the beginning and crux of the revolt against Col Muammar Gaddafi.
When local people there came out to protest last week, they were fired on from a huge army base in the centre of the city with heavy artillery, including anti-aircraft guns.

In response, they simply took on the army, with homemade petrol bombs.

If Egypt's revolution was inspired by Facebook, then Libya must be supported similarly by Twitter.

Flogging the blogosphere

Despite my professional and personal interests in communication arts, I'm really a very private person who enjoys my solitude. Thus I tend to keep a very small but loyal circle of friends and family.

Blogging is against my nature. It's not that I don't like to share my thoughts and opinions -- it's that I don't always have a lot to say ... and I hate small talk that just fills the void.

To me, silence is golden. It permits me to think   , to reflect and to plan.

When I speak, I tend to measure my words ... and I hate it when I have to repeat what I've said.

But social media is a reality of our modern world. So blog I must ... and blog I will.

Welcome to my blog.
